카세트로 걷는 하루

강희천은 스물아홉 살, 한창 일터에서 미래를 준비하던 시절에 갑작스러운 사고로 시력을 잃었다. 그는 점자를 배우고 신학교에 다니며 목회자의 길을 걸었고, 시를 쓰며 또 다른 언어로 세상과 연결되기 시작했다. 그렇게 삶의 방향을 잃지 않으려는 그의 걸음은 오랜 세월 묵묵히 이어져 왔다. 경기도 장애인 기회소득을 알게 된 후 그의 하루는 다시 바깥으로 열렸다. 이제는 매일 산책을 하고, 텃밭에서 도라지와 들깨를 가꾸며 지낸다. 몸을 움직이니 마음이 단단해졌다고 말한다. 그의 손에는 언제나 작은 카세트가 들려 있다. “이 카세트는 제가 다닐 때 꼭 함께 하는 친구예요. 듣고 싶은 성경 말씀을 넣고, 걸으면서 계속 듣고 있어요.” 그에게 카세트는 세상과 이어지는 소리의 길이다. 울릉도와 독도를 다녀온 뒤 그는 “나도 할 수 있다”는 용기를 얻었다. “기회소득은 저에게 꿈이에요. 몸을 일으켜 나가게 되니 건강도 찾고, 많은 사람을 만나고 나눌 수 있게 됐어요.” 경기도 장애인 기회소득은 강희천에게 걷게 하는 믿음이 되었고, 카세트는 그 믿음을 소리로 전하는 동반자가 되었다.
A path connected by sound, a day walked with a cassette

At twenty-nine, Heecheon Kang lost his sight in an accident while preparing for his future. He learned Braille, studied at a seminary, and began writing poetry, finding new ways to connect with the world. After joining the Opportunity income for the disabled program, his life opened outward again. He now walks every day and grows bellflowers and perilla in his garden, saying that movement has strengthened his mind. He always carries a small cassette player. “It’s my walking companion,” he says. “I record Bible verses and listen while I walk.” For him, the cassette is a path of sound connecting him to the world. After visiting Ulleungdo and Dokdo Islands, he found new courage—“I can do it, too.” “The Opportunity income for the disabled is my dream,” says Heecheon Kang. “It helped me regain health, meet people, and share life again.” For him, the program became faith that moves his steps, and the cassette, a companion that carries that faith in sound.
